THE NORTHLANDS VARIETY STATION

Seven years ago little Rick Nordeen spoke into the Mic proclaiming 97.9 FM WEV.....uh, I forgot the rest. Radio history was made and the world turned once again. Today it's a different story. He calls himself the little man in your radio, but all of the jocks in the WEVE stable know he is the bull with the biggest horns. He's the Music Director. That's right, with a little hard work you too can be like Rick. Start at the bottom, scraping for Cd scraps and then with time move up to programming the tunes on WEVE. Good job Rick, we salute you!

Not only does Rick eat, sleep and convert air into carbon dioxide for the station, he also can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time. Musical interests include Pearl Jam, Uncle Tupelo and it's descendents, Whiskey Town, Ryan Adams and Todd Snider. But Wait there's more. Rick has a passion for Classic Soul and R&B

When it comes to movies with Nicolas Cage and Val Kilmer, look for Rick at the front of the line, then ask for cuts. Of all the females on the silver screen the ones that get Rick fired up are Meg Ryan and Holly Hunter. If that's not enough any theater showing Raising Arizona or Goodfellas will probably have a special seat for MR. Nordeen.

Pets and kids, kids and pets are another side of Rick. Offspring include but not limited to Rachael, Katie, Leah, Jonathon, Ricky and Garrett. Pets, and lots of them. It's Rick's wild kingdom with a Chinchilla, Guinea pigs, Mice and a Hamster named Jabba. Also on the farm Rick has a turtle named Shelly and a few gallons of salt and fresh water fish.

You would think that a man like Rick would fall under the veggie category when asked animal, vegetable or mineral. But nooooooo! Rick proclaimed "I ROCK!"

Up to this point Rick seems pretty normal. However, the desert question broke the man and he displayed his answers in the rawest forms known to mankind. Rick would like his guitar, a 55 gallon drum of Coca Cola and his Play Station.
